Alongside the zoning approval, the USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation announced a $2.5 million grant to support the construction and programming of the tennis campus. This funding aims to enhance the community’s access to tennis, providing physical, social, and emotional health benefits to both youth and adults across the region.
Economic and Community Impact of New Tennis Facilities in Leesburg
Projected to open in 2025, the USTA Mid-Atlantic Tennis Campus will feature 21 outdoor and 10 indoor tennis courts, along with spaces for pickleball, fitness, and community events. This initiative is expected to generate approximately $8.5 million annually in economic impact, bolstering local development and offering new recreational opportunities to residents of Loudoun County.
Tara Fitzpatrick-Navarro, Chief Executive Officer of the USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation, emphasized the significance of the zoning approval and funding commitment as “crucial steps forward” in achieving the vision of making tennis accessible to all. The campus will not only serve as a sports facility but also as a venue for large-scale competitions and community engagement.
Beth Twomey, Chief Operating Officer, highlighted the campus’s role in extending the benefits of sport to under-resourced communities, enhancing education, and promoting physical activity through various outreach programs.
